Curriculum Vitae – Pravash Patnaik

Mr. Pravash Patnaik graduated with a B.Tech (Hons.) in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India, in 1959. He started his working career in the automotive industry, spending the first five years mostly with the TATA group & their Daimler Benz collaboration in India. Thereafter, he joined the Philips operations in India, a subsidiary of the Dutch multinational in the field of electronics & lighting, where he worked for the next 35 years. He was a member of the Board of Management of Philips India for the last seven years before retiring as Director and Senior Vice President of the company. During his career at Philips, he was responsible for several high-profile assignments, including starting a new factory as Plant Manager for manufacturing lighting fittings in Kolkata, Plant Manager of the consumer electronics factories in Kolkata and Pune, Senior General Manager of corporate purchase and corporate logistics, and Member of the Board for the professional electronics product division comprising industrial electronics, business electronics & telecommunications, with several business units spread over Europe & North America.

Mr. Patnaik has been the non-executive Chairman of the Board of Philips Telecommunication Industry, in Kolkata, a joint venture of Philips Telecommunication, Cambridge, UK, and the State Government of West Bengal.

He has also been a non-executive Director of Group 4 Securitas in India, a subsidiary of the global security company.

He was a non-executive Director of State Electronics Development Corporation, Government of Orissa.

Mr. Patnaik was an Advisor to His Excellency, the Ambassador of the Netherlands in India, on economic, political and industrial affairs.

Most recently, he served as non-executive Chairman of TEX CORP, a leading zipper manufacturing company having their manufacturing & sales operations in India, Bangladesh and Vietnam.
